Skiing always creates great memories, but Copper Mountain has a family-oriented, fun environment that made my experience even more of a blast! Add to that that this is where I learned to ski when I was five, fabulous, uncrowded slopes, a cute little village, and enough family fun to fill more than a whole weekend. Ahh… just what I needed after four tests in a week at school.
Tubing at Copper
The first night I spent at Copper, we ventured to the outstanding… (drum roll please) COCA COLA TUBING HILL! No, this is not the same as your everyday sledding hill. It is so much better! It has five hills; #1 being the slowest and #5 being fastest. My sister and I (AKA “Little Dare Devils”) had a special attachment to #5, the last thrilling hill!
My mom and little brother stuck to #1-#3. This was one of the highlights of our stay, definitely being a great start to our trip.

After a great time we had while tubing the Coca Cola hill, hot chocolate and popcorn was all I really needed to complete my first night. Mmmm…I wanna go back!
Skiing Copper
Day two, also my first skiing day, had even more beautiful weather than I expected! Nothing but sunshine and baby blue skies… perfect for an eager teen skier.
My little brother, Jack, was enrolled in Copper’s awesome ski school (I learned at Copper when I was little, too), so my mom had to sign him up. The great part about Copper’s family friendly atmosphere is that she felt comfortable letting me and my sister ski on our own while she tended to Jack. When she was finished getting Jack into school, we hit the slopes, all together.
So, the rest of my second day consisted of skiing, skiing, hot chocolate, more skiing, and a couch to curl up in a watch a movie with the family. Can’t get much better than that.
How Many Runs Can One Girl Do in a Day?
Day three was similar to day two, but I tried to ski even more because I realized that this was close to the end of my trip! Oh no!
Our condo’s ski-in/ski-out location helped us in this endeavor with a convenient ticket booth literally 50 feet away, and a high speed lift just as close. So it took us five minutes to get our tickets and go to the slopes. Wow, were we close to the lifts! In and out for a hot chocolate break and lunch–awesome…
After another amazing, long day of skiing, another movie and hot apple cider did the trick. The trip to the community pool and sauna also relieved my aching muscles. Ahhhh… the hot tub was absolutely replenishing for me. I could of stayed there for hours!
On the last day, we squeezed in as many hours of skiing as we could, then we had to pack up and leave our perfect condo and head back home. Goodbye, Copper! So glad I had the chance to go back to the resort where a learned to ski as a little girl. Such a fun family ski weekend!
Disclosure: Copper Condos gave us the condo free so we could tell others about our great stay. Copper Mountain also gave me and my parents free ski passes that covered two of my three days of skiing. I think that was exceedingly cool of both of them, but it didn’t affect what I would tell you about our trip. What I’ve written above is what I really think.
Try to convince your parents to go to Copper by clicking HERE and read about what MY parents thought of our stay, and see a cool family video my dad put together. And if your mom just wants to hang out at the lodge, check out my mom’s post HERE.
